Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The indubitable event! 1 What is the Inevitable Reality? 2 Would that you knew (in detail) what the Inevitable is! 3 The people of Thamud and Ad denied the Day of Judgment. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the awful cry! 5 And as for 'Aad they were destroyed by a wind, furious, roaring. 6 which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 7 Can you see any of their survivors? 8 Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, 9 When they disobeyed the apostle of their Lord He seized them with an overwhelming punishment. 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, 14 Then, on that day will the Event befall. 15 The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. 16 The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. 17 On that Day you shall be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden. 18 Then as to him who will be vouchsafed his book in his right hand, he shall say: here! read my book! 19 "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" 20 And he will be in a life of Bliss, 21 In a high garden 22 The fruits in bunches whereof will be low and near at hand. 23 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past." 24 And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! 25 and not known my reckoning! 26 Oh, would that it had been the ending! 27 My riches have availed me not; 28 and my authority has been destroyed' 29 (A command will be issued): “Seize him and shackle him, 30 and then let him enter Hell. 31 And string him to a chain seventy cubits long. 32 “Indeed he refused to accept faith in Allah, the Greatest.” 33 nor were they concerned with feeding the destitute. 34 On this day, they will have no friends 35 Nor any food save filth 36 “Which none except the guilty shall eat.” 37
