Jinns (Al-Jinn)
28 verses, revealed in Mecca after A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf) before Y S (Yaa Seen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Say, (O Prophet), it was revealed to me that a band of jinn attentively listened to (the recitation of the Qur'an) and then (went back to their people) and said: “We have indeed heard a wonderful Qur'an" 1 Guiding unto rectitude; wherefore we have believed therein, and we shall by no means associate with our Lord anyone. 2 And that He-- exalted be the majesty of our Lord-- has not taken a consort, nor a son: 3 And that our foolish one has been saying about Allah an excessive transgression. 4 We thought that no man or jinn could ever tell lies about God. 5 'And verily, there were men among mankind who took shelter with the masculine among the jinns, but they (jinns) increased them (mankind) in sin and disbelief. 6 And that they thought as you think, that Allah would not raise anyone: 7 And we stretched towards heaven, but we found it filled with terrible guards and meteors. 8 We would sit there on seats to hear; but any listening now finds a meteor in wait for him. 9 "'And [now we have become aware] that we [created beings] may not know whether evil fortune is intended for [any of] those who live on earth, or whether it is their Sustainer's will to endow them with consciousness of what is right: 10 'There are among us some that are righteous, and some the contrary; we are groups each having a different way (religious sect, etc.). 11 And we know that we cannot escape from Allah in the earth, nor can we escape by flight. 12 Hence, as soon as we heard this [call to His] guidance, we came to believe in it: and he who believes in his Sustainer need never have fear of loss or injustice. 13 And some of us have surrendered, and some of us have deviated. Those who have surrendered sought rectitude; 14 But as for the unjust, they will be, for Hell, firewood.' 15 If they (the idolaters) tread the right path, We shall give them to drink of water in abundance 16 so as to test them by this means: for he who shall turn away from the remembrance of his Sustainer, him will He cause to undergo suffering most grievous. 17 The mosques are for God's worship -- so do not invoke anyone else along with God -- 18 And that when the Servant of Allah stood up supplicating Him, they almost became about him a compacted mass." 19
