In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O you wrapped in garments (i.e. Prophet Muhammad SAW)! 1 Keep watch all the night except some, 2 A half thereof, or abate a little thereof 3 Or increase a little upon it, and recite the Qur’an slowly in stages. 4 For We are about to send down to you a message of considerable gravity. 5 [and,] verily, the hours of night impress the mind most strongly and speak with the clearest voice, 6 whereas by day a long chain of doings is thy portion. 7 And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with (exclusive) devotion. 8 The Sustainer of the east and the west [is He]: there is no deity save Him: hence, ascribe to Him alone the power to determine thy fate, 9 Bear with patience what they say, and gracefully come away from them. 10 And leave them to Me – these wealthy deniers – and give them some respite. 11 for with Us there are fetters, and a furnace, 12 and a food that chokes, and a grievous chastisement. 13 On the day the earth and mountains will rock violently, and the mountains turn to a heap of poured-out sand. 14 Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness upon you just as We sent to Pharaoh a messenger. 15 But Fir'aun (Pharaoh) disobeyed the Messenger [Musa (Moses)], so We seized him with a severe punishment. 16 If you persist in denying the truth how will you escape the Day that will turn the children's hair grey. 17 Whereby heaven shall be split, and its promise shall be performed. 18 Verily this is an admonition; let him therefore, who will, choose a way unto his Lord. 19
