The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O thou shrouded in thy mantle, 1 Arise and warn! 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 And your clothing purify 4 And all defilement shun! 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 It will not be easy for those who deny the truth. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 And sons dwelling in his presence, 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 Yet he desires that I should give more. 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 death seized him, how was his determining! 19 yea, he destroys himself, the way he meditates! 20 He looked (at others); 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 What will let you know what the Scorching is like! 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
