The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O thou shrouded in thy mantle, 1 Arise, and warn, 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 And do not through giving seek thyself to gain, 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 When the Trumpet is sounded, 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 and whom I have granted abundant wealth 12 and sons ever present with him, 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 Surely he reflected and guessed, 18 And woe to him! How he plotted!- 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 Then he looked round; 21 frowned and scowled, 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; 24 This is naught but the word of a mortal. 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 Scorching the skin. 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
