▼ 74 The Hidden Secret
Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
No! By the moon 32 And the night when it departs, 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 it is a warning to man, 36 To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Except those on the right side. 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 about the guilty ones: 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 and they shall reply, "We were not among those who prayed; 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 So what is the matter with them that they turn away from the advice? 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 Nay! but they do not fear the hereafter. 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 No one will seek guidance unless God wills it. He alone is worthy of being feared and He is the Source of Forgiveness. 56
