Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 No! I swear by the reproachful soul! 2 Does man think that We cannot assemble his bones? 3 Indeed, We have the power to restore his very finger tips! 4 But man desires to continue in sin. 5 He asketh: when will the Day of Resurrection be? 6 But when the sight is dazed 7 And the moon will be eclipsed, 8 And the sun and the moon will be united. 9 on that Day man will ask, "Where can I escape?" 10 No, there shall be no (place of) refuge. 11 For on that Day the refuge shall be to your Lord. 12 That Day will Man be told (all) that he put forward, and all that he put back. 13 Oh, but man is a telling witness against himself, 14 even though he offer his excuses. 15 Do not move your tongue with it (the Revelation) to hasten it. 16 Lo! upon Us (resteth) the putting together thereof and the reading thereof. 17 And when We read it, follow thou the reading; 18 We shall be responsible for its explanation. 19 Yet you love this hasty world 20 and neglect the life to come. 21 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 22 Looking at their Lord. 23 And on that day some faces will be ghastly. 24 Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking. 25 Yea, when (the soul) reaches to the collar-bone (in its exit), 26 And men say: Where is the wizard (who can save him now)? 27 the while he [himself] knows that this is the parting, 28 And anguish will be heaped upon anguish: 29 The drive will be, on that Day, to your Lord (Allah)! 30
