The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
