The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
