The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 About which they differ? 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 And dense gardens. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 , A fitting reward. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
