The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 There will follow it the subsequent [one]. 7 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; 8 Their eyes humbled. 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 But only, it will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e., the second blowing of the Trumpet)]. (See Verse 37:19). 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 but he cried lies, and rebelled, 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 and said, "I am your Lord All-Highest!" 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. 26
