The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By those who drag forth to destruction, 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 And who glide with ease. 3 Then those who are foremost going ahead, 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 and the second blast follows it, 7 hearts will be throbbing, 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
