The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the angels who violently tear-out the souls of the disbelievers from their bodies, 1 and gently take it away; 2 by those that swim serenely 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 Hearts, that Day, will tremble, 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 And they will wake up suddenly. 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 and said, "I am your Lord All-Highest!" 24 Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
