The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 by the angels who float (in the heavens by the will of God), 3 Then those who are foremost going ahead, 4 and then manage the affairs of the Universe (according to their Lord's commands). 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 And the second followeth it, 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 and gathered his people together 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 So God seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and this world. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
