He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 You pay full attention, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 and fears (Allah), 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 On honourable pages. 13 Exalted and holy, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
