He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 you attend to him, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and pious. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 and olives, and palms, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
