He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 To him you give attention. 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And he fears, 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 noble, pious. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 We send down abundant water, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 Olives and dates, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
