The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
29 verses, revealed in Mecca after Thorns (Al-Masad) before The All High (Al-A'alaa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 And when the books are spread, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 by the night swarming, 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 he truly beheld him [the angel] on the clear horizon. 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
