The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 For what sin she was killed 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 by the night when it approaches 17 And the breath of morning 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 When whither go ye? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
