The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe to the diminishers, 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 Whereas when they give others after measuring or weighing, they give them less! 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 For a mighty day, 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 No indeed! Verily the deeds of the wicked are in the Record locked up in the prison-house! 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 it is a written record. 9 Woe, that Day, to those that deny- 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 The ones nearest to God will bring it to public. 21 Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss: 22 [resting on couches, they will look up [to God]: 23 Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 which have the fragrance of musk. This is the kind of place for which one should really aspire. 26 Blended with the water of Tasnim, (heights ultimate of evolution), 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 BEHOLD, those who have abandoned themselves to sin are wont to laugh at such as have attained to faith 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery); 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers, 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
