The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Woe to the defrauders, 1 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 On a grievous day, 5 A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 No indeed! Verily the deeds of the wicked are in the Record locked up in the prison-house! 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 A book inscribed. 9 Woe, that Day, to the deniers, 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!" 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 Most surely the righteous shall be in bliss, 22 On couches face to face. 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set, 25 The seal thereof will be of musk. And to this end let the aspirers aspire 26 for it is composed of all that is most exalting 27 a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink. 28 The sinners indeed laughed at believers 29 And wink one to another when they passed them; 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 And when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray!" 32 But they had not been sent as keepers over them! 33 But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
