The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
