The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 will be easy, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
