The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
