The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
