The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
