The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 Verily! This (the Quran) is the Word that separates (the truth from falsehood, and commands strict legal laws for mankind to cut the roots of evil). 13 And it is no joke. 14 They are devising guile, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
