Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 well-placed cushions, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
