Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 labouring, weary, 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven how it has been raised? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
True are the words of God the Almighty.
