Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 Goblets set, 14 and arranged cushions 15 and well spread carpets. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
