Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 labouring, weary, 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 in a Garden on high, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 and arranged cushions 15 And linen spread out. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
