Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 and couches raised high, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
