Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 labouring, weary, 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 in a Garden on high, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And cushions ranged 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
