Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In the high empyrean, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 In which are high thrones. 13 And cups set at hand. 14 cushions ranged, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
