Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
CONSIDER the daybreak 1 And ten nights, 2 And by the even and the odd (of all the creations of Allah). 3 and by the passing night, 4 There is indeed in them (the above oaths) sufficient proofs for men of understanding (and that, they should avoid all kinds of sins and disbeliefs, etc.)! 5 ART THOU NOT aware of how thy Sustainer has dealt with [the tribe of] 'Ad, 6 Iram of the pillars, 7 The like of which was not created in the lands; 8 And how did He deal with Thamud who hewed out rocks in the valley? 9 And with Pharaoh, lord of stakes? 10 All of them committed excesses in their lands, 11 and caused much corruption in them: 12 Therefore your Lord struck them hard with the means of punishment. 13 Truly your Lord is ever watchful. 14 As for man - when his Lord proveth him and so honoureth him and is bounteous unto him, then he saith: 'my Lord hath honoured me, 15 But when He trieth him, restricting his subsistence for him, then saith he (in despair), "My Lord hath humiliated me!" 16 Nay, but ye (for your part) honour not the orphan 17 And urge not on the feeding of AlMiskin (the poor)! 18 And devour the inheritance devouring greedily, 19 And you love wealth with exceeding love. 20 Most certainly when the earth is smashed and blown to bits. 21 And comes your Lord, and angels row on row, 22 On that day, hell will be brought closer and the human being will come to his senses, but this will be of no avail to him. 23 He will say, "Oh, I wish I had sent ahead [some good] for my life." 24 Upon that day none shall chastise as He chastises, 25 none shall bind as He binds. 26 [But to the righteous, God will say], "O soul at peace, 27 Return thou unto thy Sustainer, well-pleased [and] pleasing [Him]: 28 Enter thou among My servants! 29 And enter thou My Garden. 30
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
