Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ I swear by this city (Makkah); 1 And thou art an indweller of this city - 2 or by the great father and his wonderful son (Abraham and Ishmael) 3 that We have created man into a life of toil and trial. 4 Does he think that never will anyone overcome him? 5 He will say: 'I have destroyed a vast wealth' 6 Does he think that no one has seen him? 7 Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?- 8 and a tongue, and a pair of lips, 9 and guided him on the two highways? 10 But he hath not attempted the Ascent - 11 And what will explain to thee the path that is steep?- 12 (It is:) freeing the bondman; 13 the giving of food upon the day of hunger 14 To an orphan, having relationship, 15 Or the poor in distress; 16 Then he is of those who believe and charge one another to show patience, and charge one another to show compassion. 17 Their place will be on the right hand. 18 whereas those who are bent on denying the truth of Our messages - they are such as have lost themselves in evil, 19 On them will be Fire vaulted over (all round). 20
God the Almighty always says the truth.
