The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 and by the day when it unveils. 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 your striving is indeed to different ends! 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 So We will very soon provide him ease. 7 But as for him who is niggardly, and thinks that he is self-sufficient, 8 And denies the best [reward], 9 We shall pave his way to hardship, 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 Wherefore I have warned you of Fire flaming, 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 who belied and turned away, 16 For, distant from it shall remain he who is truly conscious of God: 17 Who gives his wealth in order to be pure. 18 And no one has done a favour to him, for which he should be compensated. 19 But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High; 20 And presently he shall become well pleased. 21
