The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 and by the day when it unveils. 2 Consider the creation of the male and the female! 3 That your endeavour is for different ends. 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 And believeth in goodness; 6 So We will very soon provide him ease. 7 As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), 8 and cries lies to the reward most fair, 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). 11 Verify on us is the guidance 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 Now I have warned you of a Fire that flames, 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 who gives the lie to the truth and turns away [from it]. 16 But save him who fears 17 Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And no one has done a favour to him, for which he should be compensated. 19 But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High; 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
