The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 or orders piety? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
