The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Recite: And thy Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
