The great ones among Pharaoh's people said: "Verily, this is indeed a sorcerer of great knowledge, 109 “He wishes to expel you all from your kingdom; so what do you advise?” 110 They said, 'Put him and his brother off a while, and send among the cities musterers, 111 That they may bring to you every enchanter possessed of knowledge. 112 And the magicians came to Pharaoh and said: 'Shall we have a reward if we win?' 113 Pharaoh replied: 'Certainly, and you shall be among those who are near to me.' 114 The magicians asked Moses, "Will you throw your staff first or shall we?" 115 He said: Cast. So when they cast, they deceived the people's eyes and frightened them, and they produced a mighty enchantment. 116 And [then] We inspired Moses, "Throw down thy staff!" - and lo! it swallowed up all their deceptions: 117 ۞ So the truth was established, and what they did became null. 118 Thus there and then they were vanquished and overthrown, humiliated. 119 And the sorcerers fell down prostrate. 120 [and] exclaiming: "We have come to believe in the Sustainer of all the worlds, 121 "The Lord of Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron)." 122 The Pharaoh said to the magicians, "You declared your belief in him (Moses) without my permission. This is a plot to throw my people out of their city. But you will soon know. 123 “I swear I will cut off your hands and your feet from alternate sides and then crucify you all.” 124 They answered: "Verily, unto our Sustainer do we turn 125 You only take revenge on us because we believed in the Lord when we saw His miracles. Lord, grant us patience and let us die Muslims (submitted to God)." 126
