The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 a return for the insolent, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
