And when the envoys came to the family of Lot, 61 he said: "Behold, you are people unknown [here]!" 62 They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing, 63 And we have come to you with truth, and indeed, we are truthful. 64 So set forth, thou with thy family, in a watch of the night, and follow after the backs of them, and let not any one of you turn round; and depart unto the place you are commanded.' 65 And [through Our messengers] We revealed unto him this decree: "The last remnant of those [sinners] shall be wiped out in the morn." 66 And the inhabitants of the city came rejoicing (at the news of the young men's arrival). 67 He said, 'These are my guests; put me not to shame, 68 Fear God and do not shame me." 69 They said, “Had we not forbidden you from meddling in the affairs of anyone?” 70 [Lot] said: "[Take instead] these daughters of mine, if you must do [whatever you intend to do]!" 71 Verily, by your life (O Muhammad SAW), in their wild intoxication, they were wandering blindly. 72 and thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at sunrise. 73 And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay. 74 There are great Signs in this for those endowed with intelligence. 75 And surely it is on a road that still abides. 76 Lo! therein is indeed a portent for believers. 77 The dwellers of the Thicket were harmdoers. 78 We therefore took revenge from them; and indeed both these townships are situated on an open road. 79
