And the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and to whom We had given the luxuries and comforts of this life, said: "He is no more than a human being like you, he eats of that which you eat, and drinks of what you drink. 33 If you were to obey a human being like yourselves, you will certainly be losers. 34 Does he promise you that when you die and have become dust and bones, that you will be brought forth again? 35 ۞ How far-fetched what you are promised; 36 Life is not but our worldly life - we die and live, but we will not be resurrected. 37 He is only a man who has invented a lie about God, and we are not going to believe him!" 38 He said, 'O my Lord, help me, for that they cry me lies.' 39 God replied, "After a very short time they will certainly regret for their deeds." 40 So the true Scream seized them – We therefore made them like rotten hay; so away with the unjust people! 41 Then, after them, We created other generations. 42 No nation will precede its time [of termination], nor will they remain [thereafter]. 43 Thereafter We sent Our apostles, successively. So oft as there came unto a community their apostle, they belied him, so We made them follow one another, and We made them bywords; so away with a people who believe not! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our miracles and clear proofs 45 to Pharaoh and his Council, but they were very proud, and they were a tyrannical nation. 46 They said, "Should we believe in two mere mortals who are like ourselves and whose people are our slaves?" 47 So they rejected them both, and became those who were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, in order that they might receive guidance. 49 And We made the son of Maryam (Mary) and his mother as a sign, And We gave them refuge on high ground, a place of rest, security and flowing streams. 50
