Messengers! Partake of the things that are clean, and act righteously. I know well all that you do. 51 And verily, this community of yours is one single community, since I am the Sustainer of you all: remain, then, conscious of Me! 52 But they (mankind) have broken their religion among them into sects, each group rejoicing in its tenets. 53 So leave them in their error for a time. 54 Think they that in the wealth and sons wherewith We provide them 55 We provide them with the means of competing with each other in virtuous deeds, but they do not realize this. 56 Verily those who live in awe for fear of their Lord; 57 And those who believe in the signs of their Lord – 58 and who do not ascribe divinity to aught but their Sustainer, 59 And those who give that (their charity) which they give (and also do other good deeds) with their hearts full of fear (whether their alms and charities, etc., have been accepted or not), because they are sure to return to their Lord (for reckoning). 60 it is they who vie with one another in doing good works, and it is they who outrun [all others] in attaining to them! 61 And We do not burden any soul beyond its capacity, and with Us is a Book* that speaks the truth, and they will not be wronged. (* The preserved tablet or the record of one’s deeds.) 62 NAY, [as for those who have torn asunder the unity of faith] - their hearts are lost in ignorance of all this! But apart from that [breach of unity] they have [on their conscience even worse] deeds; and they will [continue to] commit them 63 But when We will strike with torment those (unbelievers) who are rich, they will start to cry for help. 64 (It will be said): "Groan not in supplication this day: for ye shall certainly not be helped by Us. 65 "My Signs used to be rehearsed to you, but ye used to turn back on your heels- 66 In scorn thereof. Nightly did ye rave together. 67 Have they not pondered over the word of God? Has something come to them that did not come to their forefathers? 68 Or is it that they did not recognise their Noble Messenger, therefore they consider him alien? 69 Or do they say that there is madness in him? Nay, he has brought them the Truth and it is the Truth that most of them disdain. 70 Had the truth followed their fancies, the heavens, the earth, and all who live in them would have surely been corrupted. No, We brought them their Remembrance; but from their Remembrance they turn away. 71 Or is it that thou askest them for some recompense? But the recompense of thy Lord is best: He is the Best of those who give sustenance. 72 And indeed you call them to the Straight Path. 73 but those who do not believe in the Hereafter are ever prone to deviate from the Right Way. 74 ۞ If We took compassion on them and removed the affliction they are in, they would only wander lost in confusion. 75 We seized them with the punishment, but they did not surrender to their Lord, nor will they humble themselves 76 To the extent that when We opened the gate of a severe punishment for them, they thereupon lie despairingly in it. 77
