And recite to them the news of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
