And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 Make me inherit the bountiful Paradise. 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 the Day on which neither wealth will be of any use, nor children, 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 "Nor a caring friend." 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
