Samood gave the lie to the apostles 141 When their brother Saleh said to them: "Will you not take heed?" 142 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 143 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 144 And I ask of you no hire therefor; MY hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 145 Do you believe that you will be left here to live securely in the present state 146 amidst [these] gardens and springs 147 sown fields, and palms with slender spathes? 148 “And you carve out dwellings in the mountains, with skill?” 149 "But fear Allah and obey me; 150 "And follow not the bidding of those who are extravagant,- 151 “Those who spread turmoil in the earth, and do no reform.” 152 They said, "You are only of those affected by magic. 153 thou art naught but a mortal, like us; then produce a sign, if thou art one of the truthful.' 154 (Saleh) said: "Here is a she-camel. She has a right of drinking water, and you have a right of drinking it on appointed turns. 155 Do not touch her with malice so that punishment of a dreadful day seizes you' 156 But they ham-strung her: then did they become full of regrets. 157 And the punishment seized them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 158 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 159

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
