Alshu'araa' 10 of 11

The dwellers of Al-Aiyka [near Madyan (Midian)] belied the Messengers. 176 when Shuaib said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 177 I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 178 So fear Allah and obey me. 179 my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 180 ۞ Give full measure and do not cheat; 181 And weigh with a balance straight. 182 And do not wrong men of their things, and do not act corruptly in the earth, making mischief. 183 Fear He who created you, and the generations of the ancient' 184 They said: "You are only one of those bewitched! 185 thou art naught but a mortal, like us; indeed, we think that thou art one of the liars. 186 But in case you are speaking the truth, then make a segment of the sky to fall upon us." 187 He said: My Lord is Best Aware of what ye do. 188 Then they branded him a liar, whereupon the chastisement of the Day of Canopy overtook them. It was the chastisement of a very awesome day. 189 Verily in this was a sign, but most of them do not believe. 190 And lo! thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 191
