Indeed this is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe; 192 Which the trustworthy Ruh [Jibrael (Gabriel)] has brought down; 193 Upon your heart, [O Muhammad] - that you may be of the warners - 194 In the perspicuous Arabic tongue. 195 And verily it is in the Scriptures of the ancients. 196 And has it not been a sign to them that it is recognized by the scholars of the Children of Israel? 197 If We had revealed it to a nonArab, 198 In order that he read it to them, even then they would not have believed in it. 199 In this wise have We made way for it into the hearts of the culprits. 200 They will not believe in it till they behold the painful doom, 201 It will come upon them unawares, and they will not comprehend it. 202 Then they will say: "Can we be respited?" 203 What, do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 204 Then have you considered if We gave them enjoyment for years 205 and then the promised punishment fell upon them, 206 what will it then avail them, the enjoyment of days they were given? 207 And We did not destroy any town but it had (its) warners, 208 to admonish them. We have never been unjust. 209 Not by the Satans has it been brought down; 210 They are unworthy of it, nor can they do it. 211 Indeed they have been banished from the place of hearing. 212 So call not on any other god with Allah, or thou wilt be among those under the Penalty. 213 Warn your nearest kinsmen, 214 And take those believers under your wing who follow you. 215 So if they do not obey you, then say, “Indeed I am unconcerned with what you do.” 216 And rely upon the Exalted in Might, the Merciful, 217 Who seeth thee when thou standest up 218 And watches your movements among those who prostrate in prayer. 219 for, verily, He alone is all-hearing, all-knowing! 220 Shall I inform you upon whom do the devils descend? 221 They come to every sinful liar. 222 on those who whisper hearsay in the ears of people; and most of them are liars. 223 And the poets -- the perverse follow them; 224 Do you not see how they wander aimlessly in every valley, 225 and preaching what they themselves never practice. 226 Except those who believe and do the right, and remember God a great deal, who retaliate only when they have been wronged. Yet the oppressors will now come to know through what reversals they will be overthrown! 227
